Furiosa is a post-apocalyptic action movie based on the characters created by George Miller and Byron Kennedy. The movie is a spinoff and prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road and is the fifth movie in the franchise overall. As with all other movies in the franchise, Furiosa is written and directed by franchise creator George Miller. Nico Lathouris who is responsible for writing on both Mad Max and Mad Max: Fury Road is also credited as a writer on the movie. Furiosa is produced by Village Roadshow Pictures and Kennedy Miller Mitchell with George Miller and Doug Mitchell both signed on as producers.

Furiosa stars Anya Taylor-Joy in the lead role of Imperator Furiosa. Taylor-Joy is known for her roles in the limited series, The Queen’s Gambit, for which she won a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award. She plays opposite Chris Hemsworth who stars as Dementus. Hemsworth is known for his iconic portrayal of the character Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as the movies Extraction and Spiderhead. The cast also includes Nathan Jones starring as Rictus Erectus, Angus Sampson as The Organic Mechanic, and Daniel Webber as War Boy. Tom Burke, Quaden Bayles, and Lachy Hulme are all also in the cast.
